Part-Time Year 1 Teacher - Didsbury (October -December) A welcoming primary school in Didsbury is looking for a dedicated Year 1 Teacher to join the team on a part-time basis, starting as soon as possible. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate teacher who enjoys supporting children through the transition from EYFS into Key Stage 1 and creating engaging learning experiences that build strong foundations for future learning. The school is looking for a teacher who can deliver structured, engaging lessons while nurturing pupils' confidence, independence and enthusiasm for learning. A strong understanding of phonics teaching is particularly important, as the successful candidate will help pupils develop their early reading skills and build confidence in recognising sounds, blending and reading words. The successful candidate will: Year 1 curriculum knowledge - understand the transition from EYFS to KS1 and plan lessons that support pupils' academic and personal development. Strong phonics knowledge - confidently deliver phonics sessions, support sound recognition and blending, and help pupils develop fluency and confidence in early reading. Early reading and writing - develop pupils' literacy skills through engaging activities, guided reading and structured writing opportunities. Engaging teaching - create purposeful, age-appropriate lessons that maintain pupils' interest and encourage active participation. Positive behaviour management - establish clear routines and expectations while creating a calm, nurturing classroom environment. Inclusive practice - adapt teaching to meet different learning needs, including pupils with SEND, and provide additional support where needed.This part-time Year 1 role is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful difference during a crucial stage of children's education, helping pupils strengthen their phonics, reading and writing skills while developing a positive attitude towards learning.
