Full job description (from employer)⌄

Lead the mechanical work as a consultancy builds its Liverpool presence A consultancy with a strong education focus is establishing itself in Liverpool, and the work is already arriving. It has recently won its first commission in the city for a major education client, it expects more from that client, and it’s looking to build relationships with other education clients across the North West. It needs a senior mechanical engineer to take charge of the mechanical side: someone who can deliver for those clients now and help shape the local team as it grows. Behind you is an established mechanical and electrical team based in one of their other offices, ready to step in when projects peak. In front of you is the chance to build a practice, not just fill a seat. What you’ll be doing You’ll lead mechanical design and technical delivery across education projects, from surveys of existing buildings with the costs attached, through to designs that stand up to CIBSE guidance. You’ll help decide how the work is resourced, bring your experience to tenders and frameworks, coach junior engineers, and look for repeat work and new openings with the clients you meet. As the workload builds, there’s a route to leading a Liverpool team of your own. What you’ll need HNC/HND or degree in mechanical or building services engineering Mechanical building services design experience Experience carrying out condition surveys and producing costed recommendations Working knowledge of CIBSE guidance and design standards Client-facing experience, and comfortable talking to clients as the technical lead Based in or near Liverpool, with a full driving licence for travel across the North West Education or public sector experience preferred What you’ll get A competitive salary of circa £60k (negotiable depending on experience) with car allowance included, plus a performance bonus, private healthcare and pension.
