Full job description (from employer)⌄
Our well-established client is looking for a creative, detail-oriented 3D Designer with experience in socks and hosiery to join our team in Nottingham. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented designer with a strong understanding of 3D design, product visualisation and the technical requirements of sock design and development. The successful candidate will work closely with the design, product development and merchandising teams to bring new sock collections to life, from initial concept through to final production. You will combine creative flair with technical expertise to produce innovative designs, accurate 3D visuals and commercially relevant products that meet customer expectations and current market trends. Part-time Candidates and freelancers are welcome. Key Responsibilities Create high-quality 3D designs and visualisations of socks, hosiery and related products. Develop new sock designs, patterns, colourways, textures and graphic placements in line with seasonal trends and customer briefs. Produce realistic 3D renders, mock-ups and product visuals for presentations, customer approvals and internal reviews. Translate 2D artwork, design briefs and technical specifications into accurate 3D product representations. Demonstrate a strong understanding of sock construction, knitting techniques, yarns, materials, patterns and finishing details. Work collaboratively with designers, product developers, buyers and manufacturers throughout the product development process. Prepare and amend artwork, technical files, colour specifications and design documentation as required. Ensure designs are commercially viable, technically accurate and suitable for manufacture. Manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining a high standard of quality and attention to detail. Research emerging trends, competitor products, colours and innovations within the socks and hosiery market. Support the development of customer presentations, product ranges and seasonal collections. Skills & Experience Required Proven experience in a 3D design role, ideally within socks, hosiery, textiles, fashion or apparel. Previous experience designing socks is highly desirable and a strong understanding of sock construction is essential. Proficiency in relevant 3D design and visualisation software, such as CLO 3D, Blender, Cinema 4D, or comparable tools. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator and Photoshop. Strong understanding of textile patterns, repeat artwork, colour matching, yarns and knitted structures. Ability to interpret design briefs and translate concepts into accurate, production-ready designs. A strong creative eye, excellent attention to detail and a good understanding of commercial product design. Good communication, organisational and time-management skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. A portfolio demonstrating relevant 3D design work and, ideally, sock or hosiery projects
