What's on offer
Full job description (from employer)⌄
Business Development Manager – Retail & Property Services South East / Home Counties | Field-Based / Hybrid £55,000 – £60,000 + Car Allowance + Commission The Opportunity We're working with a well-established, growing facilities services business to appoint a Business Development Manager to develop its presence across London and the South of England. The business specialises in delivering cleaning, security and integrated soft services to shopping centres, retail parks and commercial property environments. With the backing of a substantial national group, it combines the resources and infrastructure of a major organisation with the autonomy, accessibility and personal approach of a smaller business. This is an opportunity for an experienced, commercially minded BDM to take ownership of a developing territory, build meaningful client relationships and play a significant role in the next phase of the business's growth. There's also a genuine opportunity to progress into a Business Development Director position as the region develops. The Role Covering London, the Home Counties and the wider South of England, you'll be responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities across the retail property sector. This is a highly relationship-led, field-based position. You'll spend time getting to know prospective clients, understanding their operational challenges and positioning the business ahead of future tender opportunities. Your responsibilities will include: Developing new business opportunities across shopping centres, retail parks and commercial property portfolios. Building relationships with shopping centre managers, managing agents, property consultants and procurement teams. Identifying prospective clients through market research, site visits and proactive networking. Developing a qualified pipeline of opportunities and managing relationships through often lengthy sales cycles. Working alongside operational colleagues to develop commercially competitive, tailored service solutions. Leading client presentations, tender submissions and commercial negotiations. Collaborating with an established business development team and external appointment-setting resource. Contributing to the wider commercial strategy and growth of the southern region. Importantly, this isn't a role where you'll be expected to arrive with an established pipeline and deliver immediate results. The business recognises that sustainable growth comes from understanding the market, developing relationships and being in the right place when opportunities arise. About You We're looking for an established Business Development Manager or Senior BDM with a demonstrable track record of winning new business in a B2B environment. Ideally, you'll bring: Proven success in developing and securing new business contracts. Experience within commercial cleaning, security, facilities management or another outsourced services environment. Strong relationship-building skills and the confidence to engage with senior client stakeholders. A proactive, resourceful approach to prospecting and developing opportunities. Commercial awareness, with the ability to understand client challenges and translate them into compelling solutions. The independence and motivation to manage a substantial geographical territory. A collaborative, hands-on approach and a genuine interest in understanding operational service delivery. Experience selling into shopping centres, retail parks or the wider property management sector would be particularly advantageous, as would existing relationships with managing agents. However, we're equally interested in speaking with strong B2B sales professionals from adjacent sectors who can demonstrate the right approach and track record. You'll ideally be based in London, the Home Counties or the surrounding South East, allowing you to spend meaningful time with prospective
