Full job description (from employer)⌄

Are you a Software Engineer with strong C#/.NET skills and hands-on experience working with Linux and Docker? We’re looking for an engineer to join a team developing and maintaining sophisticated software applications. You’ll take ownership of software components from design through to delivery, contribute to larger systems and work alongside talented engineers in a collaborative, agile environment. This role combines software design and development with practical experience of containerised applications and Linux environments. You’ll have the opportunity to solve technical challenges, improve existing systems and contribute to the delivery of robust, reliable software. What you’ll be doing Design and develop software: Take ownership of designing and building software applications and components using C# and .NET. Work with Linux and Docker: Develop, support and troubleshoot software in Linux environments, working with Docker and containerised applications. Solve complex problems: Investigate bugs, diagnose technical issues and improve the reliability and performance of existing customer systems. Build quality software: Write clean, maintainable code that follows established coding standards, design patterns and engineering best practices. Collaborate on system design: Work with other engineers to design software components, evaluate technical approaches and contribute to larger systems. Support effective delivery: Use Azure DevOps, source control, branching strategies and pull requests to manage development and maintain code quality. Contribute throughout the development lifecycle: Produce technical documentation, participate in agile ceremonies, review code and communicate progress to stakeholders. What we’re looking for You’ll be a hands-on Software Engineer with strong development skills, practical Linux and Docker experience, and a methodical approach to solving technical problems. Essential experience C# and .NET / .NET Core: Strong knowledge of the Microsoft development ecosystem and experience building software applications. Linux: Practical experience working in Linux environments, including navigating systems, troubleshooting issues and supporting software running on Linux. Docker and containerisation: Hands-on experience using Docker and working with containerised applications. Databases: Understanding of MySQL, MariaDB or similar data stores. Azure DevOps: Familiarity with work management, source control, branching strategies and pull requests. Software engineering practices: Understanding of coding standards, design patterns, code reviews and technical documentation. Agile development: Experience working within a collaborative team, including stand-ups, sprint planning and retrospectives. Problem-solving: Strong analytical skills and the ability to investigate and resolve technical issues. Desirable experience Python or C++ development. Message queues and messaging technologies such as RabbitMQ. Experience designing components within larger, complex software systems. Why consider this opportunity? This is an opportunity to work on sophisticated software where strong engineering fundamentals matter. You’ll combine application development with Linux-based environments and containerisation, giving you the chance to contribute across both software design and the technologies supporting its delivery. If you enjoy solving problems, writing quality code and working across the software stack, we’d love to hear from you. Interested? If you have strong C#/.NET skills alongside practical Linux and Docker experience, get in touch to find out more
