Full job description (from employer)⌄

About you If you are an experienced Quantity Surveyor who enjoys taking ownership of the commercial side of construction projects, this could be a really good opportunity for you. You will be joining an established construction business, working from their office in the BN44 area of West Sussex, where you will have responsibility for managing project costs, procurement and commercial performance. This is a role where you will be involved throughout the project rather than simply producing valuations or cost reports. You will work closely with the operational team, manage subcontractor packages and make sure your projects are performing as they should financially. You will need to be commercially confident, organised and comfortable managing your own workload while knowing when to involve more senior members of the team. The salary is £65,000 to £70,000 per annum. Your experience You will need a solid background as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry, with experience managing the commercial aspects of projects from procurement through to final account. You should be confident managing subcontractor packages, valuations, variations, cost reporting, forecasting and project cash flow. Experience producing CVRs and Cost to Complete reports will be particularly important, as you will need to understand how your projects are performing financially and identify any potential issues. You will also need a good understanding of construction contracts, measurement and procurement, along with the ability to manage commercial and contractual risks. Ideally, you will hold a degree or HND in Quantity Surveying or a related commercial subject. CIOB or RICS accreditation would be advantageous, although it is not essential. You will need to be comfortable working independently while maintaining good relationships with clients, subcontractors and the wider project team. What you will be doing with your experience You will take commercial responsibility for allocated construction projects, working closely with the operational teams to make sure costs are controlled and margins are protected. You will manage procurement schedules, appoint subcontractors, place orders and negotiate variations with clients and suppliers. You will also be responsible for valuations, monitoring project cash flow, producing CVRs and Cost to Complete reports and keeping senior management informed of commercial performance. A big part of your role will involve understanding where each project stands financially, identifying commercial risks and making sure issues are dealt with before they affect profitability. You will attend subcontractor meetings, manage contractual documentation and make sure valuations and payments are dealt with properly. You will also maintain relationships with clients and subcontractors, helping to ensure projects progress smoothly from a commercial perspective. Where required, you will support more junior members of the commercial team and work closely with Senior Quantity Surveyors and operational management. About the business You will be joining an established construction business with an experienced commercial and operational management team. The business is looking for a Quantity Surveyor who can take ownership of the commercial performance of allocated projects, work effectively with the wider team and make sensible commercial decisions. You will have responsibility across procurement, cost management, contractual matters and reporting, while having the support of more senior commercial colleagues when needed. If you are looking for a Quantity Surveyor position where you can manage your own projects, take responsibility and continue developing your commercial experience, this could be worth a conversation. The salary is £65,000 to £70,000 per annum. Next steps A CV isn't needed to start a conversation, so no matter what stage you're at in your job search, get in touch to d
