Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of work, they are looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor or Senior QS to join their commercial team. The Role The successful candidate will be responsible for the commercial management of construction projects from procurement and contract award through to final account. Working closely with the operational team, subcontractors, suppliers and clients, you will help ensure projects are delivered within budget, commercially controlled and to the required standards. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor to join a growing main contractor offering exposure to a varied portfolio of projects across the region. Key Responsibilities Manage the commercial aspects of construction projects from inception through to completion. Prepare, review and manage project budgets, cost plans and cash flow forecasts. Measure, value and agree variations and change orders. Prepare and submit interim valuations and payment applications. Manage subcontractor procurement, tender enquiries, comparisons and package negotiations. Prepare, assess and agree subcontractor payments and final accounts. Monitor project costs, identify commercial risks and implement appropriate cost-control measures. Maintain accurate commercial records, reports and forecasts. Assist with the preparation and agreement of main contract final accounts. Work collaboratively with site managers, project managers and other members of the commercial team. Ensure contractual obligations, commercial procedures and reporting deadlines are met. Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and consultants. Candidate Requirements Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry. Experience with a main contractor or established building contractor is preferred. Good understanding of construction contracts, procurement and commercial management. Experience managing subcontractor accounts, variations, valuations and final accounts. Strong numerical, analytical and negotiation skills. Ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. A proactive, commercially aware approach with strong attention to detail. Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management are desirable, although equivalent industry experience will also be considered. Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites across East Anglia. The Opportunity This is an opportunity to join a well-established regional contractor with a varied workload and a strong presence across multiple construction sectors. The role offers the chance to take ownership of project commercial activities, work within a collaborative team and contribute to the successful delivery of projects throughout East Anglia.
